'That word' (below-hyperlinked to a post about anatomy-words for the resperatory/vocal passage) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Region” is built on words that mean “to Move in a Straight Line” (to Guide, Direct, Lead, Rule).
Those roots come largely from considering 'regions' geographically, not necessarily 'areas in a part of the body' ... although that may help you to remember that 'certain rule apply to certain "regions" of the anatomy.'
