Rumpelstiltskin (at least the Once upon a Time-character) had a problem similar to mine ...

In the episode, we find out how- & why Rumpelstiltskin became The Dark One (tho there might be more reasons than we saw ... he might just be "evil"). Starting out, he was simply a 'Coward of the County' (in Faerie-Tale Land) who–in desparation to save his son Baelfire from 'being sent to die in a war against the ogres'–stole the enchanted dagger that the local tyrant used to control the previous Dark One (Zoso).

Killing Zoso, he became the next Dark One—just as Zoso had planned ... as he told Rumpelstiltskin (the moment he died), and as Rumpelstiltskin repeated regarding his current con-game in Storybrooke,
I know how to recognize a desperate soul!
'That name & that word' are built on even-deeper sources ... crucial things that firm the foundation upon which the our lexicon stands ...

The name “Rumpelstiltskin” is built on “Little Rattle Stilt” (Ghost or Goblin that Clatters the Supporting Posts of a House).
The word "Desperate" is built on "Without + Hope (Prosperity, Speed).

This may sound kinda weird, but–when I heard Robert "Rumpelstiltskin" Carlyle- or Brad "Zoso" Dourif (yes, "It is by will alone I set my mind in motion"-Brad Dourif)-deliver that line–I thought, "Yeah, this guy gets it!" 🤣

I mean, isn't that the way Lord Jesus Christ was too? Think about it ...

Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong—that's one reason
Our Father God said "It is not good for the man to be
alone":  "Because the man'll think he's right until someone else shows
him why he's not"—Won't you show me
if I'm right-or-wrong in the comments below?
