#Asgard #Asgardians

The word “Asgard” carries the scent of “God (Aesir) + Enclosure, Yard, Garden (Grasp).”

Asgard (as opposed to 'Midgard' (Earth)) is the home of Norse gods & -goddesses (popularized by MARVEL comicbooks & the Marvel Cinematic Universe), and also of soldiers slain in battle—wait a minute, what about Valhalla? ... I guess 'Valhalla' was more like "a meeting-place (like a pub) on Asgard" (headquarters of the Valkyries?)

Or no ... this page quotes Thor stating that his father Odin was released to live forever in the halls of Valhalla, having died 'the glorious death.' It says that today's Asgardians talk about Valhalla the way many people on Earth talk about 'going to Heaven'—like it's an afterlife location full of wonders unavailable to them as they live on in The Nine Realms.

In Norse mythology, Valhalla is said to be an enormous hall where Odin rules, where "half" of those who die in combat are led by the Valkyries (there's only one Valkyrie in THOR: RAGNAROK, but who knows ... maybe Natasha "Black Widow" Romanoff will join Hulk & Brunhilde as Thor takes them to create a new Asgard (which is what it seems like they're going off to do at the end of the movie ...

(... I don't remember him mentioning 'the new Asgard' in THE AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR; I don't know, maybe they'd have to open a gate to an alternate universe ...)

or maybe Valhalla's more like 'an upper-class neighborhood within Asgard'

I don't know yet if the MCU has 'allowed' any soldiers into Asgard (which (they at-one-time implied) was 'a planet far-far-away in the universe'), but the once-and/or-current-and/or-future inhabitants of Asgard include:
  • Odin
  • Thor
  • Loki
  • Heimdall
  • Brunhilde
  • and many other gods and demi-gods
  • And I don't know if these count as 'slain warriors,' but
  • Hulk (i.e. Bruce Banner)
  • Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff)
