#Marriage is the Forbidden Fruit (Even after #MikeBirbiglia TOLD #JenStein how Terrible it Is, She Took/Ate/Shared with Mr. @Birbigs ...) | @NETFLIX #Marry #Marrying #Married #GetMarried #GettingMarried #MarryAway #MarriedAway #MarryMe #MarryHim

The way Mike Birbiglia put it (in his stand-up special "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend"—which I "saw" on NETFLIX, but which is probably 'better' (i.e. actually "VISIBLE") on AMAZON Prime Video), he "got tired of 'being right.'

In the special, he reviewed his 'many reasons' (I think there were about five) for "not getting married."
(Finding that section of the special (using the search-terms "Mike
 Birbiglia marriage") also brought up a video on the difference
 between a Narcissist, a Sociopath and a Psychopath ...
 https://youtu.be/XZOOA9heAf0 ... interesting ...)

But–in the end–'getting married' was the only way he could stay with his girlfriend (I forget why they couldn't just live together–why they had to 'shoulder the cross of that "archaic institution based on exchanging property"' (though 'property' might be the reason-why—not to say "he's her property & she's his" or something that archaic, but more like "so it's easier for the two partners to co-own things');

Her 'argument' (the way she always won their 'disagreements'—mostly-because 'it doesn't fit the definition of an "argument"') was

"That's How I Feel"

And–just like 'Adam took the forbidden fruit he didn't really want because he'd rather die-with-her than be-immortal-alone'–Mike 'took on the ball-&-chain' because he'd rather that they stay together than that he go on alone-&-right.

And the better 'argument' now is something like 'because they are married'—they've been married several years, have a couple kids (who might be another reason they had to 'shoulder the archaic institution').

The "Marriage" is built on the same Foundations as "Husband" (to Wed, Bring Together)—perhaps ... "Provided with a Young Man-or-Woman as Suitor-or-Wife."
