@inspiringPhilos clarifies the Debated Residents (both Original & immigrated) of #PlymouthRock (in short, #ThanksgivingISNOTRACIST!)
Michael Jones explains the mixed intentions (those of the Pilgrims AND of the Indians) in a report you can access through 'the emboldened link(s)' below; but first I want to teach you about those words. And I find you understand words better if you see 'the words at their base' (then going on to look at the words at those words' bases, then the words at those words' bases, etc.-etc. ad infinitum into their Foundation)
The name “Plymouth” (of the infamous #Plymouth Rock, as well as several other American towns and one |British settlement) is a contraction of "|Mouth of the River #Plym." The river's name is built on ancient words that mean "|Plum Tree," with name of a nearby English town #Plympton.
#Plymothian #Plymothians #Janners #Janner (from 'Cousin Jan' (|Devon form of John), it's a word for 'a person from |Devon' ... also used for "anyone from the Plymouth-area' in naval circles)
