'That word' (below-hyperlinked to a discussion about the new trend) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Polished” is built on ancient words that mean "made Elegant; to make |Smooth, |Embellish, Decorate, Refine, Improve" (possibly atop "to |Thrust, |Strike, Drive" on the notion of |Fulling one's Cloth, tho other etymologists detect other foundation-traces ... possibly influenced by |Polite).

I first read about it in GQ Magazine (I think it stands for 'Gentlemen's Quarterly,' but the issues come to subscribers every month-or-two).
I thought about GQ when I saw this week's CBS Sunday Morning's segment on 'the pandemic's effect on the fashion-industry'—kind of upset that they didn't mention GQ (at-least 'that I remember hearing/seeing'), when they mentioned a wide variety of fashion-magazine titles.
