The TRUE Super-Power on @CW_TheFlash? #JesseLMartin's #Imcornviousness (Immunity to #Corniness), brought to the Role of #DetectiveJoeWest @NETFLIX || #Corny #Cornball #CornFed #Corniness #Cornier #Cornballs #Corniest #Cornily
Re-watching CW's The Flash on NETFLIX, the part that Jesse L. Martin won was practically 'a big bag of CORN' (a cop that–like BATMAN's Gordon–provided encouragement when the hero was young & needed it; but rather than just 'tell him "it'll be okay" and send him home with the boy's butler/legal-guardian, Joe became the legal-guardian—complete with all the 'little boy trying to run away from home,' '"You're not my REAL father!"'-camp);
I'm sure that–with most people trying to fill the Joe West role–I would've dismissed it as another 'Afterschool Special' or -'Lifetime Movie.'
But Jesse L. Martin (along with the writers & producers & musical-score composer ... the episode did 'teach the lesson' that The Flash needs "Team Flash" (tho I don't think they're using that name so-early in the series) to conquer the whole struggle) ...
He illustrated the problem that West was dealing with; while he agreed with Barry that Barry's father couldn't have done what all the evidence was SCREAMING the man had done, he knew that there was no "reasonable" way to prove his innocence and -that 'the path to proving his innocence' would most-likely end in disaster and so he had to prevent Barry from taking it.
That hits me personally, because ...
First, 'that word' (below-hyperlinked to The Flash's NETFLIX-page) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Corny” is built on ancient words that mean "|Trite, Old-Fashioned, Sentimental" (|Appealing to Country-|Folk; |Malty like an |Ale).
'What hits me personally' is ... well, it came to mind after this scene: I'm reminded that I was almost-never encouraged to do anything until I had already done things that showed I had the potential.
Know anything else interesting about that? Comment!
