#WherePeopleMessUp: The #COVID19-Panic shows how #HerdMentality blinds you to #HerdImmunity @Ecosia @MSNNews #Herd #HerdLogic #Herding #Herds
At a small St. Patrick's Day party with some family, some of the guys commented that theyt 'just want to get it over-with' (that is 'to contract the disease, maybe get sick for a while, and recover'), & I remembered 'Chicken-Pox Parties' (where–when one child in a neighborhood contracted chicken-pox–parents in the area would arrange for all the neighborhood's children to go to the sick kid's house & pick up the virus themselves).
But people–with all the 'urgent news reports' and 'pandemic updates' in the media–are swiftly falling under the impression that the virus is 'poison in the air' or 'another form of radioactivity' or something that'll kill you as soon as it touches you.
The herd mentality is hiding our power of 'herd immunity' (which is 'a little different' from the 'Chicken-Pox Party'–which is more like 'a community celebration of individual immunity'–but it's the principal that (along with modern cleanliness) basically ensured that none of us today have witnessed the kind of pandemics that were common in former eras ... or maybe I've got that wrong; search to check me on it).
'That word' (below-hyperlinked to MSN News' report on 'whether herd-immunity can defeat CoronaVirus (2019)') is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
