You hear it all the time ... politicians claiming We the People have 'the right to healthcare.'

No! ...

First of all, I don't think they're talking about 'being healthy' or 'the best health-services' etc ... not directly. They're probably talking about "health-insurance that is accepted by all medical professionals" (as I understand it–not being very-familiar-with the transactional maneuvering involved–

(most hospitals/clinics will only treat your ailments if you are 'on the plan' of an insurance company whose business they accept; because–for whatever reason–your treatment will cost more money than you have access-to.)

So when they say you should have a right to healthcare, they're saying 'medical professionals ought to accept whatever "licensed insurance-company" you're registered-with.'

'That word' (below-hyperlinked to the National Center for Biotechnology Information/U.S. National Library of Medicine's explanation of 'the right we do have') is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Right” is built on words that mean “that which is Morally right, Duty, Obligation, Rule of Conduct; law of a Land; what someone Deserves; a Just Claim, what is Due; Correctness, Truth; a Legal Entitlement, a Privilege.”

I guess I just want to be clear about something here—'all Americans having a right to something' doesn't mean "they get to go wherever they please & there expect to have people bring them all the medical care they need," it means 'each of us has the same right to go out and get the healthcare when-&-where-&-how (i.e. the price there decided) it is provided.'
