An ad supporting the journalism of the March 4 Oklahoma Gazette reads:

The word “Expo (short for Exposition)” is built on words that mean “Put Forth, Explain (|Expound)” (almost the same as "|Expose (|Exposé)," but 'Expose' developed some alternate meanings ... 'Exposition' was first used to mean "Big Public Display" for the Crystal Palace Exposition in London, but was first abbreviated to 'Expo' in reference to the 1967 World's Fair in Montreal).
