The word “Base” is built on words that mean “to Go, Come” (Walk, Step, Stand, Pedestal, Foundation ... the Military-sense is built on "Secure Ground where Operations Proceed," Chemical-sense of "Substance that Unites with an Acid to Form a Salt," Game (Baseball, Tag)-sense of "Safe Place," Resource from which one draws for Operation) ...
or -on words that mean "Deep, Low (on the Social scale, -on the Moral scale)" (Inferior, Worthless (Base Metals, as opposed to the Noble- or Precious-Metals)).
