"Nonattachment" is the philosophy that make make it seem like one 'does not care' about aquaintances' emotional struggles; so we 'nonattachment'-practioners have to remember that–though the problems that trouble our friends are 'impermanent matters that don't really affect the world-at-large'–our friends have to deal with them as if they're 'world-ending difficulties' in order to find out how much they don't matter ...
