Something that All Guys Need to Hear - How to Be the Man that All the Ladies Want (like Norm Peterson, according to Diane Chambers on #CheersOfClassicTelevision @CheersSitcom) @DailyMotion
'That secret' (a word below-hyperlinked to 'the episode of Cheers where Norm proved he was such a man when he "conquered" temptation) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “ #Monogamy” is built on ancient words that mean "|Marriage (|Gamete) |Alone, |Isolated (|Small, |Single)." #monogamous
Diane tells Norm (repeated here in case the 'monogamy'-link above isn't working),
"You are a Ladies-Man.... You're a one-woman man, and every woman loves and respects that. And I don't think you should live your life in deference to 'what some beer-swilling swine think.' ... They're unhappy with their marriages not lasting long, and they're waiting out there for you to throw yours away and to sink to their level!"
And if Cheers were 'trying to teach us' there (like if it were run by some marriage-ministry), the scene would've ended-right there or -just after Norm stormed out and told 'those swine' "I'm not going to throw away 11 years of marriage!..."
But--since Cheers was 'entertaining us' instead--they let him continue his statement, "... I'm looking for someone to haul it away!"
But that 'reaffirms' the dual-nature of reality---the reality people talk-about vs. the reality that they actually live in. Norm's near-constant insults for his wife Vera (whom we never saw, but whose voice was provided by George Wendt's real wife) are probably cover for 'the love they share which no one (and certainly not an accountant) can possibly explain.'
