I Only #BingeWatch when a Series is Leaving Soon (like #ClassicTelevisionCheers @NormPeterson17 @NETFLIX) - Which gives us These Characters @iMDb @ModernDayCheers @Bing @PlayBuzz @BuzzFeed @BrainFall @MeTV @Wikipedia#Binge
'That word' (below-hyperlinked to Internet Movie Database's profile of the `83-`92 sitcom) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...
The word “Binge” is built on ancient words that mean "to |Soak (|Heavy-|Drinking of |Alcohol ... expanded to |Eating during WWI---the Binge-Watching (previously only available when series had special 'Marathons' (my first was a STAR TREK-A-THON)) came into use with streaming-services in 1996)." #Binged #Binging #BingeWatching
As is frequently the case for long-running series (i.e. STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION (as well as all the other STAR TREK-series, but I first heard the comparison made with TNG), F*R*I*E*N*D*S, FULL HOUSE, Murphy Brown, etc.), the series can each be regarded as 'one complete personality, each character therein serving as one personality-trait'
(reminding me of Buddhism's 'Mutual Possession of Ten Realms'---From Hell through Heaven to Buddhahood, we each-carry 10 Worlds in our minds & -live in whichever one we choose).
Which 'trait' shines out in my life? I searched for 'one of those tests that tells you which character you're most like by looking at your Facebook-profile,' but only found 'quizzes that ask you new questions (which I'd suspect I'd answer like "the character I most want to be" rather than "the character I actually am being")'---one from PlayBuzz, one from BrainFall, one from BuzzFeed.
They (respectively) tell me ...
Besides Sam & Norm, Cheers offers the characters:(you're) Sam MaloneYour compassionate nature, good looks and willingness to lend a friendly ear to anyone in trouble has made you the most popular person in your circle. Like Sam Malone, you also wield a potent charismatic effect over most members of the opposite sex -just be careful, as this gift can lead to disappointments and embarrassment if not used wisely. You are also a "lucky" individual, one that usually lands on their feet from any setback!(I know most of these tests tell me I'm Sam Malone; but a) their pictures of him wouldn't 'code through' to Blogger, and b) George Wendt (who portrayed Norm Peterson) is one of my celebrity lookalikes.)You got: Sam Malone
You’re confident, caring, and you’ve got a lot of heart and soul. You have an easy-going nature about you and are always there to lend an ear when people need someone to vent to. You can form a love connection with almost anyone, but they tend to fizzle out quickly. But when it comes to long term relationships, it’s true what they say; opposites attract. You’ve struggled with some setbacks and insecurities, but at the end of the day, you’re always able to land on your feet.
