Quora (with the help of Wikipedia) tells us Microsoft decided on that name through focus groups that showed that "Bing" was memorable, easy to spell, and a good, internationally-recognizable URL.

It evokes a sense of 'the moment of discover, arrival at a decision ... similar to "bingo," the interjection one uses to announce that one has won a round of the game "Bingo."

Microsoft advertising strategist David Webster originally proposed the name "Bang" for the same reasons the name Bing was ultimately chosen (easy to spell, one syllable, and easy to remember). He noted, "It's there, it's an exclamation point [...] It's the opposite of a question mark.""

'That word' (below-hyperlinked to the search-engine, possibly earning a donation to the CDC Foundation or -to one of the many charities on Give With Bing's list) is built on an even-deeper source ... something crucial that firms the foundation upon which our lexicon stands ...

The word “Bing” (if not just Onomatopoeia) is built on ancient words that mean "|Heap" (the Cherry-species is named after Ah Bing, an orchard foreman in Oregon (U.S.A.)).
The word “Bingo” is built on ... it's not clear—possibly slang for |Liquor, as 'the song about the farmer's dog' was used in a popular drinking-game.

Make sure you're on board with Microsoft Rewards (a.k.a. Bing Rewards?... at least that's 'the search I made' that leads me to that page) before you start 'benefiting charities with your searches!'
