The word “Mucous (Mucose)” is built on words that mean “Slimy” (Mucus built on words that mean "Slippery, Slimy" with derivatives referring to Wet or Slimy Substances or Conditions (to Sneeze out, Blow one's Nose, be Moldy or Musty, Release)).
